Mary Helen Rogers Senior Community Center
UrbanCore Development, LLC worked with community partners to develop the Mary Helen Rogers Senior Community at 701 Golden Gate Avenue, at Franklin Street. With construction completed in late 2012, Mary Helen Rogers Senior Community Center consists of 100 affordable senior housing units and approximately 5,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. The building honors the memory of Mary Helen Rogers, a long-time community activist and advocate for the Western Addition community in San Francisco; in addition to naming the building after her, the building lobby further honors her legacy with a developer-commissioned mural. Mary Helen Rogers Senior Community Center also features services offices, a community café, a computer lab, and other similar tenant spaces; the overarching concept behind this amenity package is that the project would work with its sister building, Parkview Terraces, and combine with the amenities located there to open both buildings to tenants of both buildings. Project partners included Chinatown Community Development Corporation and Tabernacle Community Development Corporation.
