SBCCD Site K

SBCCD Site K is an approximately 14.9-acre parcel owned by the San Bernardino Community College District, which will become a multi-building, new-construction, mixed-use 790-unit LEED Gold residential community with 110,000 square feet of commercial space; the development will include multiple rooftop decks and courtyard spaces with outdoor kitchens and lounge areas, and various fitness facilities. The residential portion of SBCCD Site K will be comprised of student housing, workforce and community housing, and market-rate housing.  SBCCD Site K will also feature open-market eateries and communal spaces, similar to those found in Liberty Public Market in San Diego, The Grove in Los Angeles, Jefferson Boulevard in Playa Vista, Santana Row in San Jose, and the R Street District in Sacramento. SBCCD Site K is located to the south of the San Bernardino Valley College campus and is surrounded by an existing residential neighborhood. This geographic context provides a unique opportunity for an expansive landscaping program. Taking inspiration from the Presidio Tunnel Tops in San Francisco, the SBCCD Site K site design concept will be centered on integrally-placed parks, walking and biking paths, and tucked-away open spaces that enhance the project and, in conjunction with the commercial spaces, invites the larger surrounding neighborhood.
